Jan 15, 2024
The U.S. SBA offers mentoring programs for small business owners. It also awards at least 5% of its yearly federal contracting amount to women-owned small businesses (WOSB).
SBA provides numerous other benefits to women entrepreneurs. It creates certain contracts in which WOSBs get a chance to participate. A few of them are exclusively meant for economically disadvantaged women-owned businesses. You can register your business with SBA to receive timely updates.
To receive the above-mentioned benefits, you need to own a business that:
- Meets the criteria set by SBA to be counted as a small business
- Is at least 51% owned or controlled by women citizens of the US
- Has a women/team of women who run day-to-day operations and make necessary decisions
Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE) has numerous online resources that can help small business owners understand how to survive the tough competition. It has partnered with Google to provide free digital readiness series including webinars, tools, videos, etc. to help you learn how to use the internet to grow your business. It has created a ‘Startup Roadmap’ for budding entrepreneurs. SCORE keeps conducting events and workshops. You can register yourself to get updates about events in your area.
There are various groups on social media platforms such as LinkedIn, Reddit, Facebook, etc. where people love to ask questions, share their opinions, seek advice, etc. You can join those groups and start networking with influential persons who may be willing to offer you the necessary guidance.
